15 Hilariously Awful Songs Released In The Name Of Charity

14. Gareth Gates And The Kumars - Spirit In The Sky

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LDgs7ERjC7A When it comes to spotting record-selling (and therefore, charity money-making) talent, Comic Relief's team are spot on. Following on from acts including Spice Girls and Westlife, Gareth Gates released the official Red Nose Day single just over a year after not winning Pop Idol. On his cover of Norman Greenbaum's 1969 #1 hit Spirit In The Sky (also taken to #1 by Doctor And The Medics in '86) Gareth is joined by The Kumars for annoying in-between-lyric sentences and a video that resembles a Bollywood remake of Grease, but with more of a focus on Gates' bad hair day than anything else. You'd never see Will Young doing this... The worst moment would have to be a draw between the sitar-solo and Gareth's attempt at Bollywood dancing, which is strictly horrendous. With both parties recently making a comeback (Gareth on this year's Big Reunion and The Kumars on Sky 1) should we expect another collaboration? Let's all dig deep, and pray to Vishnu and any others spirits in the sky, to make sure that never happens.
