DMX is one of my favourite rappers but the man does not seem capable of operating within the confines of the law. First of all, he has twelve children - some conceived while he was married. He has been the subject of Maury Povich style DNA testing and non payment of child support. And then comes a litany of crimes for just about every felony under the sun. Among the most notable are the following. He has been caught with crack cocaine and weapons in 1999. In 2000, he served a sentence for marijuana possession and he was caught driving without a license with more marijuana on him. He spent more jail time for this. He seems to believe that he should be able to drive a vehicle without a license and he has been hauled over by the law for this offence more times than I've had hot dinners. He has been to court mandated rehab but it didn't seem to work. DMX has been in and out of jail like a yoyo. It is a pity that such a talented man is letting himself be ruled by the worst excesses of a hedonistic rap star lifestyle, but breaking the law so many times is inexcusable whether you are a big deal rapper or a petty street thug.
