Widow of Grunge God smack fiend Kurt Cobain, Courtney Love has had similar problems with substance abuse throughout her life. Courtney has become a sort of byword for female rock n roll excess. Her non stop whacky behaviour is a testament to rockstar excess. Apparently she tried cocaine as a teen and became addicted to heroin during the early 1990s. When she was pregnant with her daughter Frances Bean there were allegations that she was shooting heroin. She got clean in 1996 in order to win the role of Althea in Milos Forman's The People Versus Larry Flynt in which she gave a performance that was critically acclaimed. But drugs would catch her again. In July 2004 on her 40th birthday she attempted suicide and was put on a 72 hour hold in Bellevue Hospital. She didn't quite kick the habit until she was ordered into a six month spell in a lock down rehab. Since then, Love has proved she is a hardcore maniac - claiming to have had affairs with Steve Coogan, Gavin Rossdale and Kate Moss. Her own daughter sought emancipation from her due to her crazy ways. But saying that, I do really like her music.
