15 Landmark Albums That Changed The Face Of Music Forever

13. The Ramones - The Ramones

Rock and roll is always at its best when rebelling against the norm. In the case of the Ramones first album, it was a rebellion against what rock and roll had become in the seventies. Prog rock bands like Pink Floyd and Yes were ruling the airwaves while bands like Led Zeppelin were writing Tolkein-inspired epics. The first Ramones album was a return to rock and roll€™s juvenile delinquent roots but in a sped up fashion that gave birth to the punk rock movement. Whether they were about sniffing glue, turning tricks or the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, the songs were reminders that rock and roll started off a little dumb, a lot of fun, and undeniably cool. The Ramones undeniably shook up the status quo with their first album. Even more significant was how people responded to the simplicity and energy of the album, enough to leave the garage themselves and get onstage. Without the first Ramones album, the world would never have the Sex Pistols and the Clash, to name a few. No doubt about it, the influence of the Ramones and their first album is still heard today.
