15 Landmark Albums That Changed The Face Of Music Forever

9. Prince And The Revolution - Purple Rain

Sadly, even in the early eighties music fans resembled a school dance. You had fans of funk, R&B, rock, and pop all in their own separate corners and rarely would they come and meet in the middle of the room and dance together. Prince changed all of that in 1984 when he and the Revolution released Purple Rain, and he did it by fusing all of those sounds into one album in a way only Prince can. Purple Rain expanded on what was only hinted at by its predecessor, 1999. It incorporates a little - or sometimes a lot - of each genre of music into every track. While one can endlessly debate which style of music is more prevalent in songs like €œLet€™s Go Crazy€ or €œWhen Doves Cry,€ the only thing not up for debate is how amazing each track is. What resulted was an album that so many fans of distinct genres could come together, all agree on, and be equally blown away by. The movie wasn€™t too shabby either. Album Highlights: €œThe Beautiful Ones,€ €œDarling Nikki,€ €œPurple Rain€

Just like Patrick Swayze in Roadhouse, Mickey Galie is the best friend a good time ever had.
