15 Most Underrated Bands Of The 90s

10. Fastball

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-HeqiCjGvLE If you feel like every other entry in this list is a well-forgotten 90s pop-rock band, there's good reason for that. Rock radio in the late 90s was infamous for swapping out flavor-of-the-day bands like they were going out of style (which they literally were). So we never really had the chance to get acquainted with most of these bands outside of a couple well-crafted, hooky pop songs. But most of them, Fastball included, had so much more to offer than their light-rock radio hits. Although many people still confuse them with other, similar-sounding bands, insisting Fastball are the band behind "Closing Time" (that's Semisonic) or "Counting Blue Cars" (Dishwalla), Fastball didn't really sound like any of them, as they were influenced far more by Elvis Costello than Pearl Jam. Aside from their groovy, New Wave-ish hit, "The Way," Fastball delivered track after track of flawless pop classics, mixing jangly guitars with Help!-era Beatles sensibilities.
