Ever since the beginnings of Soulfly, the group has had one running theme from then to the present day in the form of the 'Soulfly' tracks located on each of their albums.

The chronological tracks usually serve as instrumental ventures into the more reflective aspects of the group. Styles differ however like on the laid-back guitar virtuoso number 'Soulfly VI' to the expansive fluttering acoustics of 'Soulfly IV', examples of how the group like to mix up the sound on each of their self-titled tracks.

Highlights of this unique series of songs include the Latin-tinged instrumental workout from Primitive 'Soulfly II', the climatic intensification of 'Soulfly' from their self titled debut and perhaps the best of them all, the epic swirling, ten minute epic 'Soulfly VI' from Dark Ages. It is a song that is pure bliss from start to finish with atmospheric passages of sound effects, quite beautiful guitar picking and an astonishingly accomplished outro. This series of songs give the band an outlet for even more experimental facets to be put on display.

It's quite a unique way of preserving the ethos behind the band as it is a way of monitoring how the band has evolved over the years and is something fans look forward to hearing on each release to see what headspace the group are in at that particular time.
