1. The Tribe!

When 'Tribe' was first featured on Soulfly's first full-length LP in 1998, it was very much about the aboriginal tribes that still remain today all across the world to some extent and the threat that the west posed to them in this now "civilized" world.

As the song became a live favorite and a standout track in the groups catalog, the song mutated and the fans took the moniker of tribe as an endearing salute from their metal hero that to this day still resonates with fans all over the globe.

There is something about the music that Cavalera produces that strikes a chord with people no matter what creed or nationality they are because the lyrical content and musical anguish speaks to us all on a deep level in a way that transcends such trivial matters. The umbrella of tribe distinguishes all of those who go against the grain.

The song 'Tribe' is perhaps a prophetic statement that indirectly touches on the heavy metal fanbase as a whole, in that despite the criticism and attack from the genre's critics throughout the past 45 years, it is still very much intact and as loyal as it ever was.
