Nikki Sixx has an addictive personality, and his difficulty in shaking a devastating heroin addict has been well documented (particularly in various books about his life such as The Dirt and The Heroin Diaries). This heroin addiction should have killed him, many would say. Well, as his fans well know, it did - more than once. Sixx has overdoses at least half a dozen times, and on at least one occasion his OD was far worse than anyone can imagine. Sixx technically died after shooting up far too much, as he related in The Dirt:
I tried to sit up to figure out what was going on. I thought it would be hard to lift my body. But to my surprise, I shot upright, as if I weighed nothing. Then it felt as if something very gentle was grabbing my head and pulling me upward. Above me, everything was bright white. I looked down and realized I had left my body. Nikki Sixx - or the filthy, tattooed container that had once held him - was lying covered face-to-toe with a sheet on a gurney being pushed by medics into an ambulance.
Incredibly, he survived. Judging by some of the other experiences related in the books (as well as a fair few myths and rumours from fans), he's come close to death on many other occasions too. He may not have been through quite as many near-death experiences as the god-of-survival Keith Richards, but Nikki is undoubtedly the second nearest thing to immortality in rock music.
