15 Things Only Pearl Jam Fans Will Understand

11. Mother Love Bone And Temple Of Dog

Before Pearl Jam there was Mother Love Bone! Jeff Ament and Stone Gossard were members of the Seattle grunge band between 1988 and 1990. The group signed a record deal and were touted as one of the next big things to come out of the scene, when the group's lead singer, Andrew Wood, suddenly died.

Wood had a history of drug issues and overdosed on heroin, leaving him braindead and on life support for two days before passing away. This occurred just days before their debut studio album, Apple, was set to be released. The death of Wood meant the end of the band and the members went their separate ways.

Although they didn't achieve massive success, Mother Love Bone are still a group that every Pearl Jam fanatic should listen to and appreciate. Similarly, the pre-Pearl Jam Andrew Wood tribute band Temple of Dog are also worth revisiting.
