"Punk rock and DIY is my culture", claims Skrillex, and he's done everything possible to show that he believes in doing things himself and making his fans' experiences special. He doesn't do much in the way of marketing, believing that getting on the road and touring is far more honest. He says that he always wants to be in charge of his own projects, because "if you give away that creative thing to other people, then it'll get lost and turn into something you never intended it to." One of the biggest examples of this came early on in his career, when he used to sell his own demos at the merchandise stand at his shows. Each demo was accompanied by individualised hand-drawn artworks by Skrillex himself! Those drawings remain a bit of mystery - it would be great to see any photos from any of the diehard fans that managed to nab some of those super-early releases!
