15 Things Only Skrillex Fans Will Understand

8. He Also Loves Burial

On top of the 1990s industrial/dance-punk/nu-metal artists that he grew up with, Skrillex has talked a lot about how much he adores British dubstep/garage producer Burial. The anonymous artist is known to create beautiful, haunting soundscapes that take dubstep and garage back to their most skeletal roots and swathe them in foggy production. The vocal samples in his tracks are heart-wrenching. He is one of the most fascinating and celebrated artists of the last 10 years, and albums such as Untrue and Rival Dealer are just gorgeous. Skrillex's track Leaving is pretty much a direct tribute to Burial. It features similar drum patterns, vocal sampling techniques and ghostly effects. If you love that tune, you'll love Burial. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M1bb2JakOmo
