https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SXYuPMsThYs Putting on a great live show is a tricky thing for any band to master. It's easy to lose the crowd by over performing to the point of sacrificing musicianship, but the alternative, boring them to tears, is even worse. After making it big a band might be more inclined to slack off and let the power of set pieces, backing vocalists, or lighting take care of show. They may even feel entitled to it after playing all those weary nights to hard-nosed bar crowds. An Iron Maiden show has the best of both worlds; they make sounding great while running around on stage look easy. Every member of the band's mobility (except Nicko for obvious reasons, he can't run around with his drum kit) while managing not to compromise his musicianship is god-like considering the music they are playing is quite complex. Their stage presence is intense with Janick tossing his guitar around his shoulders and Steve stabbing his bass furiously at the crowd like a bayonet. All the while, Bruce darts around like a three-year-old on energy drinks, screaming like a banshee. The icing on the cake is the band's enormous set pieces coupled with pyrotechnics as a tall Eddie stalks about the stage with his laser pistols. Saying their show is an epic experience is more like the understatement of rock and roll history.
