20 Exquisitely-Produced Songs That MUST Be Played Loud As Hell

17. The Beatles €“ "A Day In The Life"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P-Q9D4dcYng There are plenty of people out there who would tell you that "Sgt. Pepper" is the most perfectly produced pop album ever, although many think the album is flawed in ways that publications like Rolling Stone don't mention when they rank it as the greatest recording in rock and roll history. With that said though, it's hard to deny the sheer finesse of "A Day in the Life," the apex of "Sgt. Pepper" and one of the best and most ambitious songs The Beatles ever wrote. There's a lot to love about "A Day in the Life," but almost nothing strikes a chord quite like the atonal glissando that separates the two parts of the song. Legend has it that producer George Martin encouraged the orchestral musicians to improvise their parts for the section, resulting in a unique and chaotic sound. When all was said and done, the Beatles had spent some 34 hours in the studio working on "A Day in the Life," and every single one of those hours can be heard in the crisp and perfect sound of the record playing as loud as it can go.
