20 Greatest Empowering Break-Up Songs
4. I'm Still Standing - Elton John
The History: A man that needs little introduction because he was one of the greatest performers of the 20th century. I'm Still Standing was a track from his album, Too Low for Zero, released in July 1983. This album was the first time Elton John and lyricist Bernie Taupin had worked on a full time basis in a number of years. It worked out well because this was a hit on both sides of the pond, peaking at number four in the UK and number 12 in the US. It also hit number one in Canada and Switzerland.
Why it's Great: Because it's Elton John, that's why. Everything this man touches is gold, except for Lestat: The Musical. I love you, Elton, but we can't pretend that you didn't have a hand in the shortest running musical in Broadway history. I'm Still Standing makes up for it, because it's the perfect song for anyone who has an ex that wants to see them fail. This song is the banner of "I'm still here and I'm not going anywhere!"
