Live Too Fast Blues/Mercy, Sweet Moan (hidden track) When The Black Crowes released Shake Your Money Maker in 1990, a welcome return to the roots of American classic rock had arrived. Soulful and with a sense of real danger, blues rock had found its new leaders and The Black Crowes were unashamedly confident enough to seize that mantle and run with it, brave enough to be retrospective and pay homage to the classics (their kick-ass cover of Otis Redding's "Hard to Handle)" and yet forward-thinking enough to conjure their own magic with modern blues rock behemoths "Twice as Hard" and "She Talks to Angels". There is absolutely nothing complicated or challenging about Shake Your Money Maker; an album that simply goes straight for the jugular, attacking it's audience with all-out groove practically dripping with swagger and sleaze. Combining musicianship tighter than singer Chris Robinson's ball-suffocating trousers with pure rock passion, it's a blues powerhouse, bred in the sweaty backwoods of the Deep South but primed for the big- time. The band would go on to experiment wildly with varying levels of success (depending on your viewpoint), but here is where their true genius lies; raw power and bar-room boogie perfectly rendered.

I love Heavy Metal, and generally anything that involves a guitar and loud noises, so I figured it was about time I put all the useless information in my head to good use and start writing a few things. Most of the time I'll be writing nonsense but occasionally I may surprise myself and appear half-way knowledgable.....but you can be the judge of that. Thanks for your fleeting attention!
