https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_7u06P3ebU The loveable Rodriguez is now something of a cult hero, thanks to the 2012 documentary, Searching For Sugar Man. Many of his current fans probably hadn't even heard of the singer-songwriter until seeing the excellent documentary; a beautiful tale of a remarkably humble man and his long road to recognition. The song Establishment Blues does exactly what it says on the tin; it's a moody, downtrodden track which claims that 'the mayor hides the crime rates' amongst a host of other establishment misdemeanours. According to Rodriguez 'the public get irate', but then proceed to 'forget the vote date'. This is dry, observant humour at its finest. Rodriguez, another (like Dylan) who knows how to tell a story, doesn't seem to give a s*** what people think. He's simply there, something of a prophet, to tell it how it is. This guy is right up there with The Dude on the cool scale: absolutely ice cold.
