20. Something Changed Pulp
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uvpEOFy8oQg Jarvis Cocker is quite rightly the thinking woman's crumpet of the pop world and the writer of many songs of sex and passing flings, but ask any of his admirers when they were most in love with him and nine times out of ten the answer is here. This is the story of the dragon slayer finally meeting his match, and boy does he sound happy about it. That's why this song makes the list, because love is about many things and two of the most important are happiness and realisation, both of which are beautifully articulated here with everything stops and he says 'Oh...' 'Something Changed' refers to a moment that I will refer to several times in the course of this article, when the singer realises that they're in love and everything's different. This can take a multitude of occasions and there isn't a timescale on it, but rather a moment that defines the pair of you - it can be a weekend, a few months together or a look from someone that makes you realise you're on a path together. That's the story of love here, or as the hero of this story tells it "When we woke up that morning we had no way of knowing, that in a matter of hours we'd change the way we were going...But like you said something changed"
