Korn - the Nu Metal pioneers who, for better and worse, defined mainstream rock in the late '90s and early '00s - return for their fourteenth studio album. The band is often underrated both outside and within alt. rock circles, but Korn are a band with a varied and impressive back catalogue. New material from Korn has been a long time coming, Jonathan Davis revealed to Kerrang! that the band had "just got done writing a record" in April 2021.
The press release described the album as:
"[...] an album born of time and the ability to create without pressure. Energized by a new creative process free of time constraints, the band was able to do things with Requiem that the past two decades haven’t always afforded them, such as taking additional time to experiment together or diligently recording to analog tape – processes which unearthed newfound sonic dimension and texture in their music.”
Fans have been treated to two peeks at the new album's content. The tracks Start The Healing and Forgotten, show the band finding a way to preserve classic Korn while offering something fresh and timeless.
