20 Most Underrated Nu-Metal Anthems

9. Alien Ant Farm – Wish

It’s hard to say that Alien Ant Farm were a full blown nu-metal group, but on the confrontational corker ‘Wish,’ they dive headfirst into the sub-genre with reckless abandon.

Dropping their pop punk sensibilities at the door, the charismatic four-piece launch into this brutish song with fiery determination. A chugging riff accompanies frontman Dryden Mitchell on his vocal uttering way, propped up by a head-rattling drum section. Everything gels so seamlessly on ‘Wish,’ that it’s hard to believe this is the first song the group ever recorded.

They may be best known for their cover of Michael Jackson’s ‘Smooth Criminal,’ but Alien Ant Farm were than just a one trick pony. Luckily, this no-nonsense cut is there for all those who wish to delve deeper into the band’s back catalog – although none hit with the same blunt force as ‘Wish’ does.
