The bane of every guitarist are those non-guitar players who will stand on a mountain and shout about how Jimi Hendrix was the greatest player who ever lived. He wasn't, deal with it, there have been many players before and after who were significantly just as - if not more - skilled than Hendrix. What he did was revolutionary, he changed rock music and the way people approach the guitar, but he was a showman first and a player second. What he did for rock music cannot be diminished but please, stop saying he was the greatest ever.
5. Not Knowing Which Guitar To Bring To A Gig
You've packed up your amp, your pedals, tidied up your cables, picked out the perfect T-shirt, but then comes the hard decision; which guitar do you bring? Most guitarists will have a small/large collection (nothing in between) of instruments and picking between them can be like picking a favourite child - inevitably it's not going to go well. Picking the perfect guitar (or guitars if you're particularly decadent) has been the cause of many a guitarist being late for set up, or not even turning up at all, often they're found still staring at their wall of guitars days later, unable to function until someone decides for them.
4. 9v Batteries
Again it's come down to gig time and you need to stock up on fresh batteries for your extensive pedal board as well as the active pickups in one of your guitars, so it's a trip down the local shops to pickup 10 9v batteries, that should keep you going for a couple of gigs for sure. Get to the register and you're forced to part with £40! FOR BATTERIES?! That's your entire cut of the gig takings and your drinking money gone, on batteries.

I am an ardent musician, having been a guitarist for the past 13 years. I am also a massive geek, I adore science fiction and fantasy films and TV shows and am trying to work up the courage to start writing a novel. If I can ever think of a good story to tell...
