Stop anybody in the street and ask them for a famous guitarist, and you'll get any name out of a list of hundreds. Page, Hendrix, Clapton, Richards, Slash, Bellamy, Santana, Morello, Vai, Zappa, and somebody's "cool uncle" will probably even say The Edge. Ask for famous bass players though, and you'll get an awkward silence followed by the word "Flea?".
