4. Your Drummer Is Simultaneously Your Best Friend And Your Worst Enemy
There's an old proverb about being in a band that goes something like "it doesn't matter what genre of music you play or how good you are at it, so long as you've got a good drummer and bass player you'll sound good". You keep eye contact at the tricky moments, take the lead for your timings from one another, and are usually the ones packing up all the gear carefully while the alleged "talent" throw their guitars and mics in the back of the bus and head straight for the bar. As the rhythm section, you're so much more than the sum of your parts. But when something goes wrong mid song, it was definitely all their fault, right?
