20 Songs Which Surprisingly Never Made It To No.1 In The UK Charts
11. Holiday - Madonna
Actual Chart Peak: No.2
Madonna would find her overwhelming fame in the early 1980s with her single Holiday. It was technically not the musician’s debut, but it was her first mainstream hit and it gained popularity for being a song that instantly put you in a good mood. Her summer-time track peaked in the top ten in many countries - including Australia, Belgium, Germany and Ireland.
However, on its first release, Holiday placed at number six in the UK. It was then re-released in 1985 and despite going even further in the charts, it still just missed out on the top spot. Madonna would not achieve her first top-selling single until a couple years later with Into the Groove.
