20 Things Only Marilyn Manson Fans Will Understand

7. The Bologna Incident

Manson's autobiography, The Long Hard Road Out of Hell, was released almost 20 years ago in 1998. While we've all read it once (and some maybe even more than that), it may have been collecting dust on the bookshelf for a while (or sitting in that Kindle or smartphone queue). However, no one that has read about it has ever forgotten the bologna incident. There's plenty of crazy stores in the book, some of them pretty damning. It's no wonder that Manson made the smart decision to change the names of most of the people featured throughout the pages of his life story. While we expected a lot of insanity from Manson's band at the height of their fame, it's not hard to feel that the bologna incident went a little too far. Even Manson himself felt uncomfortable with it. Throwing assorted fresh and raw meat that of course includes bologna onto anyone is okay in the Manson camp. Washing it off with Twiggy's urine is also just fine. The fact that the victim was a deaf girl though? That's where it's just in poor taste.
