21 Best Celebrity Appearances In Music Videos

17. Kim Basinger In Mary Jane's Last Dance - Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aowSGxim_O8 Tom Petty is no stranger to celebrity appearances: he had Johnny Depp appear in his video for Into The Great Wide Open after all. Depp wasn't quite Captain Jack at that point, but he was still a hot star in Hollywood, and still in the early, dangerous mode of his career (it would be a couple of years before River Phoenix and the Viper Room served as a wake-up call). However, as far as memorable roles go, Kim Basigner's appearance as a corpse bride in 1993's Mary Jane's Last Dance takes it. The video has Petty as a mortician, and all sorts of creepy undertones, while the song itself makes some not-so-thinly veiled references to a certain leafy green, yet really it's the image of Basigner as a lifeless puppet that stands out after all these years. Featuring Petty dancing with her body and having dinner with it, the one-time Batman actress had little to actually do, yet still provided one of the most memorable celebrity roles in music video history. The video won the Best Male Video award at the 1994 MTV Video Music Awards.
