11. Metallica - Death Magnetic (2008)
Notable Tracks: All Nightmare Long, The Unforgiven III, The Judas Kiss, The Day That Never Comes Does Metallica even need an introduction? Probably not. This 80's band is the quintessential heavy metal band. Amazingly, this band (aside from deceased bassist Cliff Burton) has stayed together for three decades. While they've certainly had their personal setbacks, it's very rare to see a band produce an album of this magnitude and importance 25 years after their first record. Their fourth album, ...And Justice for All, may very well be their best album to date, but Death Magnetic isn't far behind. Many faithful Metallica followers (including myself) maintained such low expectations for this 2008 album. Their 2003 release, St. Anger, underperformed so horribly, the Metallica members probably should have just retired and resorted to Real Estate brokering. However, Death Magnetic propelled them right to the forefront of Heavy Metal music again. The album is brutal, it's intelligent, it's long, and it is completely worth multiple listens. If you have about 75 minutes of free time, or a long ride in your vehicle, start from track one and unleash this album to stampede through your speakers.
