For me, Thom Yorke is the greatest melodist of all time. And that's a statement that I know is debatable, whether you want to argue John or Paul, Damon or Noel, Brian Wilson, Stevie Wonder or even that Bjork is better. My opinion though, is that no one is defter with a vocal hook than Yorke. Where some bands will use a vocalist just as a focal point, Yorke is an instrument all of his own. Like a piano, he's simultaneously childlike and intricately complex; he's both an enigma and your best friend. And It's stunning that in the digital age, a musician of such passion and emotion is so disconnected from celebrity life that he's a mystery to fans. But Thom Yorke is a musician worthy of celebration, whether you agree with me that he's the one of greatest or not.
