25. Sail To The Moon
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r4NB2Uk4-Xo Artist: RadioheadAlbum: 'Hail to the Thief'Year: 2003 One of the most downbeat ballads of Radiohead's discography (let's start as we mean to go on), 'Sail to the Moon' is the moody standout from political thriller 'Hail to the Thief'. The song is actually quite a tender message to Yorke's son Noah, as he tells him that if he becomes president, he must learn the difference between right and wrong; it's a starkly simple moral code set to a major/minor confusion of piano chords, and it's Radiohead at their most Sigur Ròssy. And like the title suggests, it's floaty, poetic and looking towards a brighter future than the "thief" that Yorke was living under at the time. One of those songs that's classic Yorke, no matter the project, album or era.
