30 Grime Albums You Must Hear Before You Die

19. Terror Danjah - Dark Crawler

One of grime's most travelled producers, Terror Danjah has become the master of scary Psycho-like strings, eerie synth lines and guttural aggressive bass. He also has a knack for working with some of the best vocalists going, with frequent collaborators such as Riko Dan beefing out Danjah's already angry style yet further. Renowned for the trademark cackling gremlin that is found in all of his tracks, Danjah is a great example of grime's mutation towards a sound that better suited the dance-floors of clubs when its most prominent MCs began to move away from the style in the late 2000s. Picked up by Hyperdub, Danjah draws on the oft-ignored connections between that label's R&B, dubstep and purple sounds and the icy textures of grime. A true innovator.
