4 Old Artists Who Showed They Still Have It In 2013

4. Status Quo

Statusquobulaquo What? Status Quo? The band our Dads listen to? That bunch of old guys, who still think they rock in the 21st century? Yep, Status Quo showed us they still have it in 2013. And they do rock. Status Quo are a major name in the music industry, having been on the scene since the 1960€™s. Their first successful, and perhaps most important single, Pictures of Matchstick Men was released in 1967 when the band members were very young. As young as One Direction, as a matter of comparison. Was that comparison necessary? Probably not. As young as Justin Bieber then. Okay enough comparisons. The same age as Miley Cyrus? Definitely enough comparisons. Unlike Miley Cyrus, Status Quo became a major band in the 1970€™s, and their signature blues riffs and rocking guitars became their trademark sound. Down Down, Rocking All Over The World and Whatever You want are arguably their best and most influential songs, and are almost synonymous with the 1970€™s as a whole. Riding the wave of success, Status Quo basically declined over the years as a mainstream group, though they regular released albums through the past three decades. However, in the summer of this year, which is 2013 if you forgot, Status Quo released a new album which featured some pretty rocking singles. Bula Quo! was released as the soundtrack album to the band€™s feature film of the same name, and taking a listen reveals that this group of old guys definitely still have it. If you€™re not convinced, go and listen to their single Go Go Go, and tell me they don€™t still have it! The catchy melody, the up-tempo rhythm and their signature guitar riffs all feature; and what€™s more they are going back on tour, having never really stopped. Oh, and their average age is 65. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ilZvuY7e1Dk

I like writing about films and hope you like reading about them too. And watching them, of course.
