4 Old Artists Who Showed They Still Have It In 2013

1. David Bowie

David Bowie The Next Day Yes, that€™s right, the artist who showed he still has it in 2013, is the one and only David Bowie. Everybody knows him, everybody likes him, and what€™s more everybody can agree that he still has it. He has something no other artist has. It€™s difficult to pinpoint exactly what makes David Bowie so uniquely appealing. Perhaps it is his style, his individualism, his identity. There is only one David Bowie. No equal. His career is as definitive of 20th Century popular culture as much as 20th Century music. But for the record, he has had a huge list of best selling singles, including notably, Starman, Space Oddity and Ashes to Ashes. His face was the symbol of the Glam Rock era, and his music stands out as memorable, symbolic and iconic. It is not an overstatement to say that David Bowie represented the 80€™s. His figure is that powerful. So why did he have to prove he still had it in 2013? Why does anything need to proven of such a great character? Put simply, David Bowie was in a rut after the success of the 80€™s. His career, as defining as it was, did not take off in the 90€™s, and his last recorded work appeared a decade ago in 2003. Bowie suffered a heart attack whilst on a live tour of his 2003 Reality album. A decade ago, it looked as if we€™d seen the last of David Bowie. But we were proven wrong earlier this year. In March 2013, a new album appeared. The Next Day. It came as a total surprise to the music world. Nobody had seen it coming. The album had been recorded in total secrecy. David Bowie had returned. The Next Day is a fantastic album which showcases David Bowie€™s brilliant music ability. Critically appraised, and hugely successful, The Next day helped propel David Bowie€™s legendary name back to the top of the charts. The album debuted at number one in the UK Charts, and was an international success for the 66 year old. David Bowie showed us all, he really still has it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gH7dMBcg-gE
