3. The Seer - Swans
http://youtu.be/tyX7vc0k5_k Rarely does guitar-based music come as frightening as this. Released as part of their triumphant comeback, The Seer is the twelfth album from cult experimental rockers Swans, led as always by the incomparable Michael Gira. The Seer features the gruelling thirty minute title track that leaves you exhausted in your petrifaction. The album is essentially a rock hipsters wet dream, as not only has it brought Swans out of their own ashes but includes collaborations between people from Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Low, Ben Frost, Mercury Rev, Grasshopper and Akron/Family. But its the doom-laden title track that makes you want to play this album over and over. Sounding like Black Sabbath if they were the post-punk pioneers that Joy Division are, it stirs, stretches, wakes, growls and roars through your speakers.
