1. Worthy Of Your Attention: Eminem
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NlmezywdxPI Yes... still. A year ago the idea of Eminem being labelled as a player to watch in the rap game would have sounded ludicrous - the man is in his forties after all, and while age is nothing but a number, it might be considered something of a push to bill this industry legend as a heat-maker. But when the Marshall Mathers LP2 landed in 2013 it came as a machine gun blast to the industry, a glowing reminder that Em is not only a force to be reckoned with, but that somehow he's still getting better. Like a rap Spitfire, Marshall tears through verses entwined with complex compound syllable word gymnastics, his ferocity and passion dripping off each bar, showing a hunger that belies his veteran status. He has achieved just about all there is to achieve, yet still ravishes each track like a man possessed. On an important negative note, it's disappointing that Em is yet to subdue his violent misogynistic attitude in a time where abuse towards women is a serious concern and a deplorable concept. If you can look past that caveat and convince yourself that it's purely for shock value - which doesn't let him off the hook completely, since he's spitting that negativity into the public domain - then the fact remains: Eminem is, inexplicably, still the hottest property in his realm, the consummate rap god, and still a man to watch closely.
