3. Jessie Ware
On the brink of a breakthrough is genre-blending chanteuse Jessie Ware and listening to her output its easy to understand why. Having already sung on a couple of tracks for post-dub house producer/DJ SBTRKT, Jessies solo pieces so far have seen a smooth sophisticated slant placed firmly onto the usually grime and attack of UK dub and garage music. Strangest Feeling is a slow jam demonstrating Jessies vocal range from silky whisperings to soul diva belting whilst sounding like 90s/early 00s garage (think Sweet Female Attitude) down-filtered into James Blake post-dub. Current single 110%, which samples both Big Pun Dream Shatterer and Mr Fingers Can You Feel It, drives steadily towards springtime bliss whereas critical acclaimed heavyweight Running is her shining moment, displaying nods to soulful post-disco divas (ie. Chaka Khan, Lisa Stanfield), chilled out rock (Santana sprung to mind) and the current trends on the UK underground music scene. All three of these tracks also have stupidly great remixes too if the originals are too chilled out for your liking. Already a fixture on Radio 1 and slowly crawling up iTunes, Jessie is on course for her first Top 40 single and a barrage of success. http://youtu.be/kvlFWmvgeVI
