4. Everything Everything - Duet
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mhy-ozPkiDE Once part of the longlist for the BBC Sound of 2010, Everything Everything have gone from strength to strength, releasing two critically acclaimed albums, one of which hit the top ten on the UK album charts. 'Duet' is admittedly one of their least experimental tracks, yet also one of their strongest musically. Almost ballad like, 'Duet' marks a mature, more robust sound than its predecessors. It's a crowd pleaser for sure, with its captivating strings, powerful drums and haunting vocals. Lead singer Jonathan Higgs demonstrates his impressive vocal range almost effortlessly. Combine all together and what have you got? A track that should have hit number one, or at least top forty. Unfortunately, judging by its absence on the charts, I doubt most people have heard of this masterpiece, which is a shame really.
