5 Incredible Pop-Rock Albums That You Shouldn’t Have Missed In The 2010s

1. Incubus €“ If Not Now, When?

If Not Now, When

Here is yet another album that it pains me to have to put on this list. This, in my opinion, is the kind of album that bands only dream about making. Not everyone will understand it like I do but that€™s okay. For me, this was the definition of a masterpiece. This fantastic collection of songs starts out with an incredible title-track that is a self-reflective anthem of beauty. It gives us a pop-rock sing along that deals with the magician-ship of love and a fantastic and catchy lead single about the blindness of adolescence€called Adolescents.

From epic loves story Isadore to the crooning admiration of a person€™s uniqueness that is The Original. The album carries a meditative beauty. We get jazz influenced teases in Switchblade and one of the most heart-meltingly beautiful closing pieces I€™ve ever come across. Tomorrow€™s Food is a very profound and intelligent way of telling the fans €œwe changed, it happens; but it€™s not the end of the world; you can still like us if you want.€

If Not Now, When is a breath-taking record. It tells us relatable stories and explores the meaning of real life. It is highly inspirational and oh so magnificent in its musicianship. I still haven€™t gotten over how much I adore lyrics such as €œabandon all the bones you have got to pick, the only way is down and we€™re better than that; if they all throw stones, start a collection of everything we€™re not and never will be.€

This album is Brandon Boyd€™s perfect little gift to the world. It is a message of hope and love that we could all benefit from hearing. Yet sales were disappointing. The album barely charted around the world. And, although the first two singles received a little airplay at first, they slowly disappeared and were forgotten by most listeners. It makes me very sad to think so many people are missing out on this one when Incubus€™s other albums have been so well received commercially. But, hey, I did tell you this list would be a selection of enigmas.
