5 Metal Albums We Should Still Crank (And 5 We Should Tank)

1. Crank It! Fear Factory - Demanufacture

To paraphrase a quote from Misfits guitarist Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein: "Only in the music business can four people not get along well enough to make millions of dollars doing what they love." Truer words have never been spoken in regards to Fear Factory.

When Fear Factory were at their best, they stood in a class alone. Turmoil among members of the band, along with several lineup changes, have kept Fear Factory in a state of flux for years. It's truly unfortunate because their second album, Demanufacture, showed what that classic lineup was capable of when they were firing on all cylinders.

Demanufacture was a concept album that was openly inspired by the Terminator movies. The music was so fast and crisp, drummer Raymond Herrera was accused of using a drum machine. The vocals ranged from guttural to operatic in a genre-bending way that never felt forced.

Demanufacture is widely considered to be a landmark record in metal and the band's best offering so far. As a concept album, it is best listened to from start to finish. If you don't have that time, at least catch Demanufacture, Self-Bias Resister, Replica and New Breed.

Demanufacture has a sound that works today every bit as much as it did in 1995. Crank it!!!
