5. Charlie Actually Wants To Be There

Even when promoting his rock band Fightstar and subsequent solo material, Charlie was hounded during interviews and press appearances over his pop past. It's not difficult to understand why Charlie might have grown resentful of Busted during his early years out of the band there's no doubt the determination to prove himself is what made Fightstar such a vast and convincing departure. But that was a long time ago, and Charlie has had time mellow. He's already proved his worth as a musician through numerous Fightstar albums and two great solo records. Now he has something else to prove. It's no secret that Charlie was unhappy during Busted's final days. If he had returned to the project simply to appease fans or to make a quick buck, the result would have been disappointing for everyone (and if he'd really wanted to do that, McBusted would have required the least effort for the most gain). That Charlie is back with his heart completely in it is fantastic news for fans of the trio. As Charlie himself said:
"This is not just a nostalgia trip, or me cashing-in. If I'd wanted that, I would have done McBusted. And that's so far away from where I am. But the prospect of performing the old songs is still exciting for me especially as that leads us into the idea of writing and recording new songs together."
