5 Wackiest Custom Guitars

5. Matt Bellamy's Manson MB-2

Starting off, we'll look at one of the more conventional instruments on this list; Matt Bellamy's signature Manson guitar. As the guitarist and band leader of Muse, Bellamy has garnered a reputation for being a fiercely creative player and he has always had to adapt his guitars to suit his needs, even down to the point where he would tape effects pedals onto the body of his guitars so he had more freedom on stage and didn't have to stand by a static pedal board. Bellamy started getting custom guitars built for him by British luthier Hugh Mason in the late 90s and each one has had some form of on-board electronic wizardry. From his early models containing built in distortion, fuzz and reverb circuitry to his most current model, the MB-2 which features some of the most advanced hardware you can get in a guitar. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B6ZdupeihZA The MB-2 is based largely around a Telecaster shape (as are all of Bellamy's guitars) and has a built in MIDI touch screen, Fernandes sustainer pickup and two custom wound P90 style pickups. The screen is the most unique part of this guitar as it allows Bellamy to control unlimited amounts of external effects and parameters while playing at the same time and when combined with the infinite sustain that the Fernandes pickup can provide, you can create sounds that no guitar should ever have been able to make. Bellamy used this guitar for 'Invincible' and the intro melody is played using the MIDI touch pad and the sustainer in combination with an effects unit.

I am a man of many interests. I am a passionate gamer, running my own YouTube channel (The Gadget Addicts) showing off the best of modern gaming in the form of Let's Play videos. I am an ardent musician, having been a guitarist for the past 13 years. I am also a massive geek, I adore science fiction and fantasy films and TV shows and am trying to work up the courage to start writing a novel. If I can ever think of a good story to tell... I live with my wife in the North East of England and own a belligerent little black cat.
