50 Rock And Metal Albums You Need To Hear Before You Die

29. Pride & Glory - Pride & Glory

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JebXb_fbHkI After years with Ozzy Osbourne, guitarist Zakk Wylde found himself with some downtime and nothing to do when Ozzy took a break in the mid-90s, so what is a New Jersey-born metal guitarist to do? Form a redneck-rock power trio, of course! Pride & Glory is Zakk Wylde getting down and dirty with some groove-laden, soulful rock music and it's absolutely superb. From the opening banjo riff to Losin' Your Mind to the closing hick hoe-down of I Hate Your Guts you're treated to superb playing, excellent songs and surprisingly good vocals from Wylde. It's worth buying just for the riff to Horse Called War alone.

28. The Who - Who's Next

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=85qOWl_mBg8 The Who's fifth album cemented them as not only the wild men of British rock, but as one of the biggest rock bands ever. Featuring the enduring classics of Baba O'Reilly (not Teenage Wasteland as some people believe it's called), Behind Blue Eyes and Won't Get Fooled Again, its a storming album full of fire, power and the enormous sound that only The Who could distil down onto two sides of vinyl.

27. Joe Bonamassa - The Ballad Of John Henry

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uaCjPdtDBxo Blues-rock guitarist Joe Bonamassa has been honing his craft for nearly two decades now and his 2009 release had him at his most experimental and bombastic. As with all of his albums, The Ballad Of John Henry features a mix of original songs and covers of old blues classics, delivered in Bonamassa's signature style. As a player he's tremendous, but as a singer and songwriter, Bonamassa is on another level entirely and his band have never sounded better.
