50 Worst Number Ones Of All Time

45. Las Ketchup: The Ketchup Song (Aserejé) (2002)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AMT698ArSfQ Once a staple of middle school discos, Las Ketchup championed one of the most infectious songs of 2002. I€™m not ashamed to say I would like to hear it more often in clubs... but then, there€™s probably a reason why it€™s hardly ever played. Comparing it to other songs relying heavily on a catchy beat and a simple dance routine, this song is easily one of the worst. The dance is relatively poor and not as memorable, whereas the beat lingers in the background until the chorus hits, which is easily the only thing that stands out about this song.

44. Akon: Lonely (2005)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6EEW-9NDM5k The sample in this song is horribly used. It€™s annoying and jarring on Akon€™s rap itself. Speaking of Akon€™s rap, it€™s quite inconsistent. In some places it€™s very bland and dreary, whereas in others it tends to flow rather well. The production is very simplistic however, fitting in with the rap and sample. The song plays to the sample too often, and towards the end of the song, Akon adlibs over it, emphasizing its unnecessary inclusion in the song. On that reason alone, €˜Lonely€™ deserves a place on this list, as the sample, besides being annoying, is pointless and utilised accordingly.

43. Bruno Mars: The Lazy Song (2011)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fLexgOxsZu0 I mean the title says it all: €˜The Lazy Song€™. Bruno Mars was a monster at this point, but this song was a low point for him. The simplistic production was to be admired, but the subject and lyrics were... lazy. For the musical genius that Mars is, this song relied heavily on a gimmick that wasn€™t executed all that well. The song didn€™t experience the huge levels of success that €˜Just The Way You Are€™ and €˜Grenade€™ did, and as a result, Mars realised that he doesn€™t need to rely on a gimmick in order to have a hit.

42. The Simpsons: Do The Bartman (1991)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BnALWjKNO7U This only made number one because of the massive franchise that is The Simpsons. Bart€™s rapping is awful, absolutely awful. In relation to that, the lyrics seem as if they€™ve been written by the ten year old himself. I suppose that€™s intended, but then that doesn€™t help its case as a song. The cameo appearances of Lisa and Homer are also quite unnecessary, but aid the gimmick nature of the song. It€™s offered as a fun alternative to the school€™s dreary musical, and to be fair, it serves its purpose. But don€™t be surprised for it not to feature on anyone€™s iPod nowadays, as it€™s quite an abysmal track.

41. Chipmunk: Oopsy Daisy (2009)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fkXTG-AmzEA Chipmunk is not a good rapper. He lacks energy and always appears disinterested in his own songs. The best thing about the song is Dayo Olatunji, with it being painfully clear that the song functions much better when Chip Diddy Chip isn€™t involved. Saying that, she also sings the most annoying part of the song. Leading on from that, the lyrics are also quite jarring and lazy. The chorus is incredibly uncreative and when played on repeat, leaves a very sour taste in your mouth. And then Chipmunk€™s rapping comes back around and you switch the song off because you can€™t take it anymore.
