6 Best Driving Tunes

ironic Ever since the glorious creation of the internal combustion engine, man and his vehicle have become inseparable. For any music enthusiast, one of the greatest developments has been the simple addition of the sound system. Nothing really compares to the joy of being behind the wheel with an open road in front while your favourite music blasts out. The key ingredient that makes a great driving song truly great is not that the song has something to do with driving, that's a rather lazy and often incorrect assumption. The key is the feel, we all want to sit back and enjoy a fleeting, driving beat, pardon the pun. Naturally, everyone has their preferred driving tunes, and certainly there are the classic driving songs, like Born to Run and Freebird. If you€™ve got a tune that gets your juices flowing, feel free to comment. Here are six of my favourite tracks that compliment some highly accelerateddriving rather beautifully.

6. Prince - €œLittle Red Corvette€

The minuscule genius cruises dangerous curves much too fast, demanding attention with that killer intro, oh so sexy chorus and a bass line that packs more testicular fortitude than Chuck Norris cutting firewood. Managing to include a horse-racing metaphor, a driving metaphor and, almost certainly, a clitoris metaphor, Prince unleashes a world of literary possibilities in what turned out to be his first Top 10 smash-hit.

5. Snoop Dogg €“ €œGin & Juice€

€œRollin€™ down the street smokin€™ indo, sippin€™ on gin and juice,€ driving with these lyrics pounding out is a sure fire way to get yourself pulled over by some uptight police officer. However, with that being said, there are few songs that can make you feel more free while driving than this classic. The man now known as Snoop Lion would probably acknowledge this as being the best single off his debut album. This serenading ode to hedonism proved Snoop could produce hit singles without vocal assistance from Dre. It's become a hugely significant track, referenced by countless rappers and establishing Snoop as one of the greatest rappers around.
