6 Essential UK Rock Festivals You Need To Attend In 2014

6. Hard Rock Hell - 13-16 November 2014

Headliners: TBA. I really like the organisation of Hard Rock Hell and its subsidiaries (like Hammerfest and the SFX Weekender to name but two). Held at the Hafan y Môr Holiday Park in Wales (prior to this it was held at Pontins) the festival comes ready-made with stages and accommodation eliminating any need for punters to have to camp in squalor or for the organisers to have to deal with additional third parties. Needless to say that one of the big things to stand out to me is the accommodation. Now held in caravans, you have access to hot showers, working toilets and actual beds, HRH eliminates the majority of the physical problems associated with the festival experience. Additionally, the line-ups themselves are often things of wonder: a large variety of rock bands with alternative acts thrown into the pot make the festival perfect even for fussy audiences. Likelihood Of A Sell-Out: 10/10 With no band announcements as of yet it would be difficult to contemplate on the actual quality of music throughout the festival, but that isn't necessarily what HRH is about. Given that it takes place in the latter end of the year it suits the more relaxed festival goer that can't deal with the busier festivals in the summer. Then you have to consider the accommodation. Given that the festival passes usually tie to the accommodation €“ and the often ridiculous number of tickets given away so people will pay for accommodation €“ it will most likely sell out. Get a group together and go. You will not regret it.

I’ve been a film fan for as long as I can remember, with one of my earliest memories watching my dad’s copy of Star Wars one rainy afternoon in the mid-nineties. Then the 21st century happened, and my interests developed from there – mainly including comics and video-games, and recently an introduction into WWE. It’s a good time for popular culture.
