7 Best Musical Crossovers Ever

5. Slipknot & Justin Bieber - Psychosocial Baby

OK, so this one is cheating slightly, but it's just too brilliant to omit. The two artists in question made no formal agreement to collaborate, and nor should they have; masked metal nonet Slipknot and squeaky-clean produced pop starlet Justin Bieber aren't just poles apart on the musical spectrum, but veritable galaxies. And yet, here it is.

Thanks to the sonic skills of music producer Isosine, Slipknot's perniciously pounding Psychosocial and Bieber's chart-bait Baby are melded together in marriage of diametric disciplines. It's one that has absolutely no right to work, but as they say, opposites attract, and so it does. And how.

Despite having no involvement in its production - and despite it associating his hard-hitting band with an airburshed pop pin-up like Bieber - Slipknot's Corey Taylor himself has come out in complete favour of the mashup.

No surprise. The surreal blend of Slipknot's punishing social commentary wrapped up in the joyous, happy-go-lucky shell of 'Baby' is an utterly compelling, hypnogogic contradiction of a track - the audio equivalent of a puppy coated in pure hatred.
