1. Bowie's Final Bandaged Character Was An Incredibly Obscure Homage
Over the course of his amazing career, David Bowie played so many characters that it would be crazy to try and list them all here. Some of the most popular were Ziggy Stardust and the Thin White Duke, but all of them were unique and captivating. His final aesthetic, however, used during the music videos for Lazarus and Blackstar, introduced something new entirely: Bowie with a bandage wrapped around his head and two black button eyes. As well as this, Blackstar Bowie communicates through quick, jerky movements. Incredibly, there's an English heavy metal band by the name of Lazarus Blackstar. Even more incredibly, the fan made video on YouTube for their song I Bleed Black from the album Revelations contains footage from a documentary about schizophrenia, and features many patients with bandages wrapped around their eyes with small, beady holes. These patients also move in a fashion similar to Bowie in his final music videos. Did he see the video and take inspiration for his Blackstar character? It's entirely possible, but it's something that we'll never know. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XG2J7Ug6ivI
