7 Surprisingly Inappropriate Disney Lyrics

Disney loves cheerful lyrics and uplifting beats... and occasionally violence and sexiness.

There's a long history of inappropriate images and phrases in Disney films, from the topless woman glimpsed in the background of The Rescuers to Aladdin whispering "Good teenagers, take off your clothes." Popular legend has it that the appearance of sexual messages or imagery originated with the first Disney shorts, where artists were upset that they were not given on-screen credits. In protest, they started sneaking inappropriate images into the cartoons. Today, enthusiasts scour each new film in search of subliminal messages. While some argue that the studio is intentionally trying to corrupt our children with cartoon sexiness, many think it's all just in their heads. While the dialogue and images in the films are often subject to extensive analysis, the same rarely applies to the music. Largely because lyrics are so easy to mishear anyway, some truly questionable things have managed to get in under the radar. In some cases, it's simply because certain phrases that were considered innocent a couple of decades ago have since become decidedly dodgy. But in most of these songs there's really no telling how they managed to get away with it. From extreme violence and sexual innuendo to just plain old creepiness, we've put together our list of seven Disney songs that really aren't suitable for kids.

With a (nearly) useless degree in English literature and a personal trainer qualification he's never used, Freddie spends his times writing things that he hopes will somehow pay the rent. He's also a former professional singer, and plays the saxophone and ukulele. He's not really used to talking about himself in the third person, and would like to stop now, thanks.
