8 Hard Rock Songs Probably Written Out Of Spite

1. Megadeth - Mechanix

Megadeth leader Dave Mustaine made no secret of his animosity towards his former bandmates.

“After getting fired from Metallica, all I remember is that I wanted blood. Theirs. I wanted to be faster and heavier than them."

Bassist David Ellefson actually wanted some of the songs on the Killing Is My Business… and Business is Good album to be recorded in a slower tempo. But Mustaine still had a point to prove, with one track in particular.

Metallica had taken Mustaine’s song Mechanix and reworked it into the slower but still rocking The Four Horsemen. So Mustaine decided to record the song under its original name but faster than ever for Megadeth’s debut.

“That was just to straighten Metallica up. They’re saying I’m a drunk and I can’t play.”

We can’t vouch for Dave’s drinking habits but the guitars all over Killing Is My Business… and Business Is Good are hard, fast and played with precision. Point proven then.
