7. Tyler, The Creator
From one rapper who's caused a fair bit of a stir to another - Odd Future frontman Tyler, The Creator is really not one to do things by half measures, and he really knows how to pick his words to get a reaction. Over the span of his 7-year career, he's feuded with some of the biggest names in modern music, and he's attracted a wide variety of criticisms from countless sources regarding the allegedly homophobic, misogynistic and graphically violent content of much of his music. He also directed a Mountain Dew advert in May this year which was dubbed "the most racist commercial in history". Given all this, you're probably slightly confused as to what exactly Tyler, The Creator is doing on this list but don't panic, all will be explained. What makes Tyler, The Creator great is that he knows how to play the game without compromising on quality. Every album he's released, either on his own or as part of Odd Future, been hugely acclaimed by both fans and critics, despite all this controversy surrounding him and his 'morals' - he's said himself that everything he says is purely for entertainment value and not to be taken seriously, so whether you choose to be offended by it or not is entirely up to you. He really doesn't care. He owns his own successful record label, his most recent album 'Wolf' was almost entirely self-produced and, most importantly, he's memorable - you know when you've been Tyler'd. You might feel slightly disgusted by what you've heard at first, but Tyler's really honed his rapping skills and his music really sticks with you. Considering he's only 22, that's something to be admired.
