8 Iron Maiden Songs That Are Far Better Live

4. Fear Of The Dark

Fear of the Dark is a seven minute-plus epic of a song introduced in 1992 on the album of the same name. This was easily the best song on the album and has remained a major part of the band's set lists ever since.

The track is made far better when played live simply by the response of the audience as there are few songs, Maiden or otherwise, that are as engaging as Fear of the Dark. A crowd will typically sing back to the singer of any band, but with Fear of the Dark they actually sing the part of the guitarist more so than the vocalist.

From the moment Dickinson announces the song, the anticipation builds, and as soon as the guitars kick in the audience scream the lead so loudly and passionately that it is almost like having another instrument on stage.

This truly is a song that, once heard live, you will never have to listen to the CD version again.
